Selfish or Caring?  Matthew 22:37-39
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself."  Matthew 22:37-39.

What a strong statement from Jesus to us!  Do we as His children truly believe this applies to us today?  Do we really treat others as we do ourselves?

Webster's Dictionary lists Selfish as: concerned chiefly with oneself without regard to the wellbeing of others.

There is a way we can show our love to the Lord and our neighbors at the same time.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:35-37: "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in;  I was naked and you clothed Me;  I was sick and you visited Me;  I was in prison and you came to Me.  The really exciting thing about this is that not only are we showing love to our neighbors, but in verse #40 it says; "The King (Jesus) will say, "In as much as you did it to one of the lest of these My brothers, you did it to Me."

This is thrilling to think that if we help feed the hungry, help provide clothing for the needy, visit the sick and those in prison, that we too can hear Jesus say those same words to us.
